I’m gonna preface this whole post by telling you a few things up front:
– I love ALL THINGS SEASONAL/HOLIDAY
– I love the decor, I love the food (especially the candy!), I love the celebrations
– My birthday is on Halloween
I’m decorating on a budget

SO with that in mind, I actually started thinking about my Halloween decorations in June. I wanted to come up with a design plan I loved & could build off of in the future. AND I wanted to be able to save up/purchase pieces slowly.

I’ve always done Halloween decorations starting at the end of September and then Fall/Thanksgiving decorations the day after Halloween. I can’t decide between both looks, so I just do both!

For a while now, I’ve been trying to narrow down exactly what my aesthetic is for Halloween. There’s so many options!!

There’s Black & White (and kinda creepy)…

Then there’s Black, Orange, Green & Purple (and super fun)…

And SO many iterations of those color schemes. Some feel modern, some feel farmhouse, others have a boho vibe… you get the picture. SO MANY OPTIONS.

I’ve finally decided on Black, White & Orange with a farmhouse vibe.

The design plan really started with this wreath I made last year. If you’ve never made a fabric wreath before, they’re surprisingly easy!

Next I needed coordinating throw pillows. I already had these black jack-o-lantern pillows from last year but needed a few more for that full, layered look. I originally planned to do a solid orange pillow & then a striped orange pillow in each chair. But then I thought about the orange from the pumpkins & mums I’d also have on the porch…. nah, too much orange

Also, when you’re layering the same color right on top of each color, a different tone/shade from one piece to another can really throw the whole look off. And when you’re buying things online you can never really be sure the tone/shade is the same.

So after much I debate I decided on these two:

Did you see those prices? This is part of what I love about throw pillows. Once you buy the inserts, you can change out the covers all the time for SUPER cheap!!

Ok, so next on the list was signs. There were some signs I had seen on Etsy that I just LOVED & lucky for me, my best friend was willing to use her Cricut machine to help me make some replicas.

I bought the unfinished signs from Hobby Lobby. They have a HUGE selection.

I have seriously been loving all the bat décor I’ve seen for Halloween…

I knew I wanted to do some 3D bats across the double windows. Amazon has several inexpensive options. These are the ones I purchased  & I LOVE them!!

As I started putting everything out, I came across the jack-o-lantern bucket at Walmart & the Squad Ghouls throw pillow at At Home. Finally, I added corn stalks, and a few pumpkins from a local farm & I was done!! I’m SUPER happy with the results and feel like my Halloween porch décor might finally be done….might.
